Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan has declared his intention to play for the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup in June after recovering from the injury that kept him out of action for about one year.

The Germany-based enforcer has recovered from the ankle injury that saw him miss parts of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations which nearly threatened his career.

Annan has now recovered from the injury and has played in some matches for Schalke as they chase a place in the UEFA Champions League.

With his experience of playing in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the previous World Cup in South Africa, Annan thinks he is ready to compete for a place in the team.

"Yes its every player dream to appear in this great event," the Ghana midfielder told Ghana's leading football news website GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively.

"God been so good to me I have tasted it before but this is new tournament I hope to make the squad because I was part of the qualification but unfortunately couldn’t join because I was sidelined by injury."

The Black Stars squad for the tournament in Brazil will be named on 12 May in Accra.

Ghana have been drawn in a tough Group G where they play Germany, Portugal and the United States of America.
