Russia-based midfielder Mohammed Rabiu says he is targeting a semi-final berth as the minimum achievement for the Black stars at this year’s FIFA World Cup finals.

The 24-year-old, who is set to make his tournament debut, remains confident about the team’s chances of reaching the medal zone.

The Black Stars however face a tough task of replicating the quarterfinals feat after being drawn in a Group which contains USA, Germany and Portugal.

But Rabiu remains bullish about Ghana’s chances as they prepare to take on some of the strongest teams in world football.

"The World Cup is a big stage with no need for extra motivation," the Kuban Krasnodar player told GHANASoccernet.com.

"That stage is self motivational and we are all aware of the task ahead of us.

"I see us going to the semi-finals stage at least and with determination and the right attitude am sure it will be achieved."

Rabiu has been capped eight times for the Black stars.
