2014 World Cup: Massive boost for Ghana as Salzburg reveal Vorsah will be fit for Brazil
Isaac Vorsah will be fit for the World Cup, says his club Red Bull Salzburg

Red Bull Salzburg have revealed that their outstanding central defender Isaac Vorsah will be fit to play for Ghana at the 2014 World Cup next month, handing Black Stars coach a massive boost ahead of the naming his provisional squad next week.

The Austrian giants are putting the important Black Stars stopper through special training and treatment exercises to ensure that he is fully fit for the tournament in Brazil.

The 25-year-old has been out of action for one year since suffering a serious knee injury that required surgery, ruling him out of action for most parts of the season.

Ghana have been jittery at the back without Vorsah and his presence will be key to the Black Stars' chances of excelling at the tournament in a very tough group.

Vorsah, who sustained the injury in May last year in their Austrian League Cup semi-final clash against Traun, saw Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu visiting him last month to check on his progress.

Salzburg coach Roger Schmidt is confident the training regiment and treatment being administered by the club will ensure that Vorsah will be fit for the World Cup.

“The assistant coach of the national team of Ghana was recently here and stressed the importance of Isaac for the World Cup team,” Schmidt said.

“Our goal is to get him fit for Ghana ahead of the Mundial in Brazil.”

Vorsah has already started training with the first team of Red Bull Salzburg which means he is close to being fit and ready to play for Ghana at the World Cup.

He was not available for Ghana in many of the qualifying matches with the clash against Zambia in Kumasi being the last match he played for the Black Stars in the qualifiers.

But naming him in the provisional squad will give the Black Stars coaches the first hand opportunity to observe him to see if he is fully fit for the tournament in Brazil.

The central defensive partnership between John Boye and Isaac Vorsah is coach Kwesi Appiah's preferred choice while other like Jerry Akaminko, Jonathan Mensah and Rashid Sumaila have stepped in to help in the absence of the towering centre back.

But at the World Cup, the Black Stars cannot afford to experiment so there is the need to get all the top players fit and ready for the challenge of facing Germany, Portugal and the United States.
