Ghana's Group C AFCON opponents Senegal are sweating over a massive injury blow as midfielder Sadio Mane could miss out of the 2015 AFCON tournament due to a latest injury.

The 22-year-old limped off the pitch in the 42nd minute at St Mary's Stadium in a scintillating New Year Day win over Arsenal in the English Premier League.

Mane had scored a goal of the season contender after amazingly beating Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny who was drawn out of net, Sadio Mane curved a looping ball over the keeper and into the goal to make it 1-0.

Senegal were counting on the talent of the youngster to beat Ghana when the West African rivals clash at the AFCON in January but he could well miss out of the tournament.

Southampton doctors will perform initial scans on the injury to Mane and inform Senegal officials on the extent of damage done to him.

Senegal might also send independent doctors to England to assess the situation of the player before announcing their final squad for the tournament.
