Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Yusif Chibsah has called on the club to strengthen their attack as they prepare to conquer Africa next season.

The Porcupine Warriors will represent Ghana in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup following their FA Cup triumph over Hearts in the final.

The Reds have targeted lifting the Confederation Cup trophy to end their continental trophy drought since 1983.

Chibsah believes it is achievable but with a potent attack as they looked ordinary in the just ended season.

“If you consider the league, you realise that goal scoring was a problem for Kotoko this season so it will not be a bad idea to strengthen the attacking part of the team with strikers, wingers or offensive midfielders,” Chibsah told GHANAsoccernet.com

“The technical team deals with the playing body and knows what they will need for the competition next year.

“But personally, I think if they should strengthen the team with some few players at various positions, it will help,” he added.

Kotoko scored a total of 23 goals in 30 games in the just ended season, conceding 22.

But Chibsah believes a goal-shy attack like Kotoko’s must be strengthened since the continental competition is tougher than the local game.

“Continental games are always tough because you are meeting top clubs from other countries so I’ll not rule out some few additions,” he explained.
