2018 World Cup Qualifier: Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah confident of defeating Uganda with 'new' Black Stars

Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah is confident his new look Black Stars will be up to the task against Uganda in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Namboole despite the unprecedented home invincibility of the Cranes.

The Ghana coach had six of the players that played in Ghana's 5-1 win over Congo in Brazaville out of the squad ahead of the side's travel to Kampala due to injury.

Wingers Thomas Agyepong and Christian Atsu as well as Afriyie Acquah, Harrison Afful, Jonathan Mensah and skipper Asamoah Gyan are all out of the squad due to injury.

But the confident tactician believes he has the men to finish off the daunting task in Uganda.

"The players are poised for action as each is fighting to establish himself. We have missed some players but those here are equally good for the job.

"We know it is difficult winning here but the players have a responsibility to prove to Ghanaians that they can do it. It their time to show greatness," Appiah told Ghanasoccernet.com in an interview.

The two sides will lock horns on Saturday afternoon in a crucial game which has the potential of determining who qualifies for the World Cup in Group E.
