Acting head coach of Ghana senior female national team the Black Queens, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo has blamed the inefficiency of ger side's attack for their defeat to Ivory Coast in the opener of the 2018 Women WAFU Nations Cup.

The Black Queens were pipped in the opening game of the competition by the host nation and despite her confidence that the Ghanaians will make it out of the group, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo believes their inefficiency upfront caused their defeat.

"I am unhappy because my girls couldn't make good use of the chances we had and as a I coach it means I have a lot of work to do," she told the press.

"We dominated possession and played really very well but lack flawless finishing. That is what we need to work on so that we don't repeat same in our subsequent matches," she added.

Ghana will lock horns with Niger in the second group game of the competition and the Black Queens are expected to win heavily against unfancied Nigeriens to facilitate their chances of making a semi final appearance.
