Abeyie debuts for Panathinaikos in Uefa Chmpions League

Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie debuted for Panathinaikos in their 1-1 draw at Danish side BK Odense in the Uefa Champions League third qualifying round on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old dribbling-wizard was a 73rd minute substitute and had an effort on goal in the 93rd minute.

The former Arsenal winger replaced Antonis Petropoulos at the Odense Stadion.

Argentine striker Sebastián Leto opened the scoring two minutes after recess for Panathinaikos but Tore Reginiussen snatched the equalizer.

Owusu-Abeyie joined Panathinaikos on a season long loan deal from Qatari side Al Sadd and wants to use his stint to revive his international career.

Compatriot Daniel Opare was a full-timer for Standard Liege which drew 1-1 with Swiss side FC Zurich.

Having come perilously close to falling behind, Zurich shocked the Stade Maurice Dufrasne after 78 minutes, Mehmedi-a star of the Switzerland squad which reached last month's the UEFA European Under-21 Championship final-turning in Ricardo Rodriguez's delivery.

It was Standard, group stage participants in 2009/10 along with Zürich, who had the final say, as González headed in a free-kick from Leye Mbaye.
