Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have entered the race to sign Ghana international striker Matthew Amoah.
The coach of the former European champions Frank de Boer will travel this week to observe the attacker before a decision is made.
Several clubs have expressed interest in signing Amoah but have not been able to meet the financial demands of NAC Breda.
The 30-year-old, who is one of the club’s highest paid players, could leave to reduce the club’s wage structure.
Ajax are seeking to boost their attack for the UEFA Champions League and with striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson injured, the giants have turned to Amoah.
"Amoah is among the players we are keen on," said Ajax coach Frank de Boer.
"We will be there tomorrow to observe him very carefully. He is experienced, but we are normally not attracted to older players, but his experience is important.
"It is quite difficult. I have to think about the Champions League in this light as a striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson is injured."
Amoah has previously also played in Holland with Fortuna Sittard and AZ Alkmaar, in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and in Romania with Steaua Bucharest.
The Ghanaian has a contract with NAC Breda until the summer of 2013.
