In-form Al Qadsia defender Rashid Sumaila has been recalled into the Black Stars for the upcoming international friendly encounters against Japan and Iceland next month.

The last time Rashid Sumaila earned a call into the Black Stars was last year June during Ghana's double header friendlies against Mexico and USA.

The 25-year-old picked up a knock in the early minutes of the game against USA as the Black Stars lost 2-1 against the Yankees in Connecticut.

Reports in the media indicate that the former Asante Kotoko defender is amongst the few players who have been recalled back into the team after missing out on a few occasions.

Sumaila was one of the outstanding performers for the Yellow Castle as they finished 3rd on the Kuwait VIVA League standings.

Despite suffering injuries midway through the season, Sumaila managed the make 16 appearances out of the 21 rounds of matches, and appeared five times in the team of the week.

He will be available for selection as the Black Stars come face to face with Japan and Iceland next month in international friendly encounters.
