Ghana midfield star Andre Ayew expects Olympique Marseille to challenge for the French Ligue 1 after a dramatic comeback earned them the French Super Cup on Wednesday.

His hat-trick helped them to beat league champions Lille 5-4 in Morocco.

The 21-year-old lit fans with lethal runs on the flanks and caused massive damage at Tangier to bag the three goals in the spate of 24 minutes.

The Black Stars winger is optimistic his team-mate can build on the success and stage a fight to reclaim the title they lost to Lille last season.

"It's good to win a new title. We saw a real character, which is very important. We must correct a lot of things offensively and defensively," Ayew said.

"It was ten days before resuming it because even though we won, we have encountered difficulties and we have created them by ourselves.

"We showed that we were a united group with the desire and determination. If we keep it this year, one can go far."
