Despite splashing out £35m in the summer on Anthony Martial, even Louis van Gaal admits he is surprised by the Frenchman’s incredible recent form.
Van Gaal has warned that inconsistency will play a part as Martial is still very young and as a result Van Gaal himself may not even be at United to benefit from him at his peak. Martial has put in two outstanding displays in United’s last two matches away at Derby County in the FA Cup and last night at home to Stoke in the Premier League. Van Gaal will be hoping the forward can continue this form and help push United further up the table.
