Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong has played down talks that the huge promises made by club chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei has not brought added burden on them ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash against CARA Brazzaville on Sunday.

Dr. Kwame Kyei vowed to reward each member of the playing body GH₵20,000 should they qualify for the group stages of the competition as well as a two-bed room house if they clinch the title.

Many believe the promises made by the soft-spoken club chairman will put the team under severe pressure ahead of their clash against the Congolese outfit on Sunday.

But Frimpong says they not thinking about the promises as they are highly motivated to deliver the goods in both legs.

“We know what goes on in the club. For instance, those of us who have been [around] for some years now; we know how the supporters react when things are going well. What Dr. [Kyei] said was pleasing to the ears but when you [get to the] platform to perform, what comes after it when you give your best, is better than what he promised” said Amos on Angel FM.

Amos Frimpong reiterated that, the promises wouldn’t put pressure on them.

“What doctor promised is good but it’s not putting pressure on us. We are fully focused” he added.

The Porcupine Warriors have not been at the league stage of any CAF-organised competition since 2008. They have indeed exited at the first and second preliminary rounds in their last three attempts in Africa.
