The management of Asante Kotoko SC has recognized the patience and general contribution of the club's teeming supporters as a major spurring factor in the club's relatively successful end to the 2017 football season.

The Dr Kwame Kyei led team have had to rest on more than just their managerial acumen to steer the club through high tides and low in order to record what has turned out as a pleasant ending to a somewhat difficult campaign.

"Managing a club like Kotoko is a continuum but it also comes with it's own unique challenges when you're new, many of which we've had to rely on the steadfastness of our loyal followers to succumb," said club Communications chief, Obed Acheampong.

"We have had to make a lot of difficult decisions and like most things, many have been great, others have offered good lessons going forward and the club appreciates the immense sacrifices by fans and followers through the journey," he added.

Asante Kotoko, over the weekend trounced Accra Hearts of Oak in the MTN FA Cup final in Tamale to become Champions; spinning a tough season on it’s head and having missed out on the Ghana Premier League title.

The Communications chief recounts how the resurgence of the team suffered a setback after the July 12 accident, and how that renewed and further strengthened the bond between the club and her Supporters.

One of the major occurrences out of the season, he said, was how the greater Kotoko fraternity rallied behind the club "like the family we are to bring it back on its feet after the accident and we can't understate the significance of their support even through to becoming FA Cup champions."

"This remarkable climax reflects the quality of our fans across the country and beyond."

"We are grateful to Tamale for the reception and backing, we're grateful to the traveling fans and we can't wait to achieving greater things together in the coming seasons," he concluded.
