Ghanaian side AshantiGold have confirmed the sacking of striker Frederick Quayson for undergoing trials abroad without the club’s approval.

Quayson travelled to Vietnam to try out at some top flight sides in the Asian country.

The former Kotoko striker has denied the claims by the club insisting he is being ostracized wrongfully.

"They have given me a letter stating I can look for any team to play with and I’m very disappointed because I had informed the CEO Kudjoe Fianoo and George Amoako about the trip and so I'm surprised to be told now that I didn't seek permission," Quayson said.

"I recovering from a long layoff and so want to concentrate to be fully fit. I’m not going to press anything against the club and will want to concentrate on looking elsewhere. After all there is life after AshantiGold. It’s a great club and I can only wish them well."

Quayson also claims he has not been paid for four months.
