AshGold ready to play in Africa

Ghana Premier League leaders Ashantigold have confirmed they will compete in year's Caf Champions League if they land the premier league title on Wednesday.

Ghanaian clubs in the past have pulled out of Africa's elite inter-clubs competitions on financial grounds.

Hearts of Oak, winners in 2000, withdrew from this year's campiagn citing financial constraints.

But Chief Executive Officer of Ashgold Kudjoe Fianoo claims such reports are were wide of the mark.

"We are definitely going to play in the Caf Champions League next season if we win the league," Fianoo told Ghanasoccernet.com

"We have enough assurance from the Board that they will solicit funds for us to play and enhance our image on the African continent.

"Why do you win a league and if you don't want to play in Africa? Fianoo asked

"That is one of the key motivations for us to win the league tomorrow if we get a good result at Berekum."

The Miners could wrap up their first premier league title in 14 years if they beat Bechem Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Wednesday.
