Beveren-Waasland midfielder Nana Opoku Ampomah has lamented on his injury bow for the Black Stars during their 1-1 stalemate with Egypt in the final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Ampomah, 21, was handed his debut Black Stars call-up by coach Kwesi Appiah for Ghana's dead-rubber encounter against the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

However, the former Tema Prisco Minis youth midfielder's bow was curtailed after he sustained an injury in the 41st minute of the game before being replaced by Abdul Majeed Waris.

Ampomah expressed his delight at realizing his long standing dream of lining up for the four-time Africa champions but bemoaned the unfortunate occurrence.

"I was very happy to play for Ghana because it's the dream of every Ghanaian footballer to play for the Black Stars, so I was delighted to have realized that dream though I couldn't complete the game," Ampomah stated on Happy FM.

"I felt very bad that my joy in the game didn't last. Injury is not good for any footballer and I was very disappointed that I had to go through that on a big day like my debut."

"I will be very grateful if get another chance to exhibit my abilities for Ghanaians and I know only hard work will make it happen again."

Ampomah has since recovered and rearing to play for Beveren-Waasland when they travel to Club Brugge on Sunday in the Belgian Jupilar Pro League.
