A huge friendly family row has erupted in the Boateng footballing family ahead of Kevin and Jerome's clash in the same group at the World Cup in South Africa in June.

The two brothers will represent two different countries at tournament with Kevin playing for his father's country Ghana while Jerome will feature for Germany.

This has left their father Prince divided as to which country he should support as his sons will be playing for two countries he has affinity with.

Kevin plays for Portsmouth and Jerome of Hamburg has revealed that their family clash has already started with text messages fling the opposite direction as to who will win the game.

The division has eaten deep into the family that their dad is refusing to reveal where his loyalties lie so that he doesnt offend any of his children.

"I don't know how dad's going to work out who to support, but he is as excited as me and Kevin," said Jerome.

"Ever since Germany and Ghana were drawn in the same group, Kevin and I have been sending each other messages.

"The texts have been flying. The handshake before kick-off is going to be a special moment, but after that he's just another opponent.

"Family will count for nothing, and if I have to kick him, I will without even thinking.

"We've faced each other once before, when he was on loan at Borussia Dortmund near the end of last season. I was on the losing side that day, but I have told him I will have my revenge in Johannesburg."

Jerome is the kid brother of Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, who is likely to quit Fratton Park at the end of the season following offers from top clubs in England.

Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng says his family is excited about him moving to Manchester City.
