Charlton boss Robinson refuses to discuss 'benchwarmer' Joe Dodoo after Oxford United snub

Charlton boss Karl Robinson has played down his ongoing omission of striker Joe Dodoo following the side's draw with Oxford United in the English League on on Tuesday.

The former Leicester City forward has not hit the height expected when he moved to the Valley on a season-long loan from Rangers.

The Ghanaian was again left on the bench as the two teams shared the spoils to raise concerns about the future of the attacker.

But Charlton manager Karl Robinson has played down on the omission of the fast-footed attacker.

“Why don't you ask about Joe Aribo, Ezri Konsa or Dillon Phillips? There are other players who didn't come on as well,” Robinson told NewsShopper after Charlton’s 1-1 draw at the Kassam Stadium.

“It’s hard because you ask and I have to give you an honest answer. Just because I don't put someone on, it doesn't mean I don't like them. When I give people an honest answer, it reflects badly on the individual.

“Joe’s worked really hard, we had a meeting before the Oxford game, went through all his clips at Gillingham. We’ll sit down and watch his clips again - it’s about learning.”

The 22-year-old  famously scored a hat-trick on his Leicester debut against Bury in the EFL Cup but failed to make an impact thereafter.
