Ex-Ghana captain and rising coaching prospect C K Akonnor says he is keen on coaching former African champions Accra Hearts of Oak.

The former German Bundesliga star is confident he will revive the Phobians as they celebrate their 100th anniversary this year.

The troubled Accra giants are without a permanent coach after they sacked Paa Kwesi Fabian on Monday.

Akonnor, who excelled at a recent UEFA coaching Pro Licence course with the German Football Federation, is being eyed by Hearts of Oak for the post.

The former Black Stars captain revived Eleven Wise two seasons as he took them from strugglers to an impressive showing in the league.

Akonnor, who is currently the head coach of the Right to Dream Academy, says he is keen to listen to Hearts if they approach him.

"I have not had any contacts with Hearts yet but if they are to approach me I can't turn them down," Akonnor told Ghanasoccernet.com

"Of course Hearts is a big club with a big dreams and this is the challenge I want.

"They are currently facing some troubles on the pitch but these problems can be solved and I am ready to put my hand on the steering wheel.

Fabian was sacked after a shock home defeat to RTU over the weekend.

Hearts are currently 11th on the 16-team league.
