Columbus Crew manager praises "phenomenal" Harrison Afful as the club extend its unbeaten run in the MLS with draw against Red Bull

Sporting Director and Coach of Columbus Crew Gregg Belhater has showered praises on Ghanaian right back Harrison Afful following his outstanding performance in their 1-1 draw against New York Red Bulls in the MLS. 

The Ghanaian right back turned provided when his cross was met by Gyasi Zardes, to put Columbus Crew in front on the 26th minute mark.

However, the New York Red Bulls equalized  in the second half with a beautiful free kick. With the game ending 1-1, it extends Columbus Crew's unbeaten streak in the regular season to 9 games.

Following Afful's role in the team's performance on Saturday, manager Gregg Berhalter described the veteran as a phenomenal player.

"Harrison [Afful]’s a phenomenal player. He’s a guy that leads our back line in attacking threats. He gets forward with vengeance. He’s aggressive in the penalty box. I think he has a great cross. The first half- amazing. Amazing performance. He’s been solid all year for sure," he said after the game.

Forward Gyasi Zardes, who profited form Affuls cross was not left out of the praises for the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender.

"He is an amazing player. His work rate is incredible. He is up and down the field and as you can see today, amazing ball into the box,' he said.

Afful together with compatriots Lalas Abubakar and Jonathan Mensah have been key to Crew's season thus far.
