Detailed low down on Ghanaian players abroad in CAF's inter clubs competitions

There were mixed reactions for Ghanaian players in CAF inter-clubs competition as some reached the money zone of the Champions League.

Others had their sides fail to reach the final qualifying round of the Confederation Cup.

CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

South African champions Bidvest Wits were crushed out of the CAF Champions League after losing 3-2 on penalties to Angolan side Primeiro do Agosto.

Ghanaian midfielder Edwin Gyimah saw all the 90 minutes of the game on Saturday for the South Africans.

Adams Zikiru came on in the 64th minute to contribute his bit to ensure ZESCO United secured a place in thegroup stage.

The Zambians overturned a 1-0 deficit to record a  2-1 victory over ASEC Mimosas in Ivory Coast to make it to the group stage of this year's competition.

Sebe Baffour Kyei and Ocansey Mandela lasted the entire duration when Horoya AC travelled to Senegal to beat Generation Foot 2-0 to clinch a group stage berth.

Brefo Mensah came on as a substitute in the 87th minute and scored just a minute afterwards to make it 2-0 for the Guinean champions.

Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah was on the bench as Mamelodi Sundowns progressed to the Group stage with a 2-0 win over Rwandan side Rayon Sport to advance 2-1 on aggregate.

CAF CONFEDERATION CUP

Kwasi Asante and Nicholas Gyan lasted 90 minutes each when Simba SC held Al Masry to a 0-0 draw in Egypt on Saturday.

James Kotei was substituted in the 74th minute.

Unfortunately, the Tanzanian giants could not progress since the first leg ended 2-2 two weeks ago in Tanzania.

Nana Akosah-Bempah saw only 59 minutes when Cape Town City FC were shocked and eliminated at home on Sunday.

The South African outfit lost 2-1 to Mozambican side Costa Do Sol despite holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg.

Richard Kissi Boateng was an unused substitute on Friday when Supersport United edged Petro Atletico de Luanda 2-1 to advance to the next round of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup.
