Former head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and now head coach of the Black Queens, Mas-ud Didi Dramani has blasted referees in the Ghana Premier League for poor officiating and has called on them to raise the bar.

Following an honest call by current Kotoko head coach Steve Polack over a penalty awarded his side in the MTN FA Cup against Nea Salamina, Didi Dramani says it's a wakeup call for referees to lift their game.

Polack had said after their 2-1 win over Nea Salamina that the last minute penalty awarded his side to win the game was dubious and was disappointed his side had to win like that.

And Didi says it's a good call for local referees to perform above their weights.

"Referees are major stakeholders of the game and a single decision they take can change all the hard work of one team or the other.

"The clubs are now doing well so if we still have problems with our game, I can now agree that the referees are the problems," Didi told Ghanasoccernet.com

"I believe they are listening, reading and seeing what is happening and so they need to lift their game," he added.
