Michael Essien and doctors of his English club Chelsea will arrive in Ghana’s World Cup training camp in Paris on Thursday to meet over when the midfielder should return to action, Ghanasoccernet can exclusively reveal.

The crucial meeting at Black Stars camping based will finally determine whether the influential player will be ready to play for his country at the World Cup.

If he is cleared to return to action, the meeting will also decide when he will join his colleagues in camp.

The Ghana FA website had reported that the influential midfielder will join camp on Friday but his arrival has been now been confirmed for Thursday.

Essien is desperate to play for Ghana at the World Cup but Chelsea are said to be keen on avoiding the player being rushed from injury like it happened at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola in January.

The Chelsea star has been a major doubt for the next month’s tournament in South Africa because after suffering a serious knee injury at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

He was expected to be out for only six weeks but this has extended to four months which has been a major worry for the Ghana FA (GFA) and the huge followers of the Black Stars.

This is to ensure he is fully recovered from the injury before he takes to the field.

Essien’s willingness to join the Black Stars shows the eagerness of the players to seal their places in the national team for the biggest sporting event in the world.

His presence is a massive confidence boost for the Black Stars as they seek a second round place but they have to face Serbia, Australia and Germany in the group phase of the tournament.
