Ghanaian defender Abraham Frimpong has been ruled out of Red Star Belgrade's Europa League tie against Arsenal at home on Thursday night.

The centre-back suffered a scary injury during a 5-0 Serbian Cup win over second-tier outfit Dinamo Vranje last week.

The 24-year-old centre back fell awkwardly after he tried to head-clear a ball from his danger zone, but did not land well and his head crushed onto the deck.

He remained unconscious, and a club doctor approached him immediately, and some of the footballers came in and thanked the medical staff for reacting quickly to the situation.

"Nemanja Milic won't feature because he's only returned to training yesterday," Vladan Milojevic told reporters at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

"Ricardinho and Abraham Frimpong are also out injured. We will have to wait and see if Guelor Kanga recovers in time. He's been injured since the match in Cologne."

Red Star, who beat Floriana, Irtysh Pavlodar and Sparta Prague to qualify for the group stages of this season's Europa League, thrashed Macva Sabac 4-0 over the weekend to extend their lead over fierce rivals Partizan Belgrade at the summit of the Serbian SuperLiga to four points.
