Ex-GFA boss admits shunning local coaches

Former Ghana Football Association boss Lepowoura MND Jawula has admitted he gave very little recognition to local coaches during tenure.

Jawula's reign from 1997-2001 saw him employ expatriate coaches  Rinus Israel and Guiseppe Dossena to take charge of the national team.

He said: "I am also guilty of the same mistakes being made today of not giving enough recognition to local coaches."

"The thought of paying a local coach as much money as an expatriate coach somehow puts us off even though they have demonstrated enough capabilities. We needed a foreigner to come and tell us Nkrumah was a great blackman, and that is exactly what is happening to our local coaches."

Alhaji Jawula is advocating Sellas Tetteh's inclusion in the Back Stars technical set-up for the World Cup finals.

Ghana have appointed 22 foreign coaches since 1958.
