Ex-Ghana captain CK Akunnor believes new Ghana convert Kevin-Prince Boateng will take very little time to settle in the Black Stars and predicts a successful spell for the German-born.

The Portsmouth midfielder had his nationality switch approved by Fifa on Tuesday and now eligible to play for the West African country at the World Cup.

The 23-year-old had an impressive season at the relegated English Premier League side and will be competing for the FA Cup trophy this weekend against Chelsea.

Boateng who featured for the German youth teams will be meeting his first international senior debut during Ghana's pre-World Cup training.

But Akunnor, a former captain of German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, says the midfielder has the credentials to be successful under Milovan Rajevac.

"He was born in Europe and has learnt a lot from the clubs he has played for so far. He is somebody who is improving steadily and he will bring options to the Ghana squad," Akunnor told Ghanasoccernet.com

"Boateng is coming in when he knows he will be meeting Essien and co for a starting place and I know he's a strong guy so he can fight for a place."
