Ex-Hearts goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy could stage a sensational return to the club, just a season after exiting the club.

The Ghanaian giants are desperate to find a backup for veteran goalie Abdoulaye Soulama who is at the twilight of his career and have identified their former glovesman as the ideal man for the role.

McCarthy, 26, left the club last year following the expiration of his contract and amid lack of interest in continuing his career at the club.

The former WAFA shot-stopper is now a free agent with Hearts enquiring about his availability, fresh reports have emerged in the West African country.

Hearts are reported to have held initial discussions with the goalkeeper with the future of duo Mutawakilu and Tetteh Luggard hanging on a thread.
