EXCLUSIVE: Egypt-based John Antwi banned for four matches for RED card offence

Egyptian Premier League leading scorer John Antwi has been handed a four-match ban for his sending off on Monday night in Ismaily’s 0-0 draw at Harras El-Hodoud.

Antwi received a direct red card for his savage tackle on El-Hodoud's midfielder Ahmed Sabry and got involved in a melee with opposing fans.

The Egyptian Football Association decided to descend heavily on his Ghanaian youngster for his misconduct.

The tempestuous match saw three Harras El-Hodoud also showed the red card.

Antwi will miss the two remaining games in the Egyptian league and two in the mini-league if Ismaily reach the final stage.

The Dervishes, who are fourth in Group B with 31 points-three points behind leaders Petrojet, will gravely miss his services.

The winners and runners-up of Group A and B book places in the final four-team mini-league phase.

Antwi has emerged as one of the best players in the Egyptian top-flight this term and leads scorers chart with 11 goals.
