Augsburg defender Philipp Max has been earmarked to follow in the transfer foot-steps of the club's former star, Baba Abdul Rahman following his remarkable performance in the Bundesliga.

Max, who has been Augsburg undisputed starter at the left back position, was a deputy for Baba Rahman during the Ghanaian days at the Augsburg Arena.

Baba left Augsburg to join English side Chelsea at the start of the 2015 season following his strong performances for the side.

And following the 23-year-old's explosive form in the Bundesliga this season, he has been tipped to flourish the same fate as his predecessor by making a big career move.

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea scouts watched the left-back in action for FC Augsburg during their 1-1 draw against Hertha Berlin last Sunday.

Apart from the Blues, another potential suitors Manchester United, were also present in the Augsburg WWK Arena. In addition to the two heavyweights, the 24-year-old is also on Everton FC and Tottenham Hotspur radar.

Max, who has featured in 17 games for Augsburg in the Bundesliga, has been compared to Manchester United left back Luke Shaw.
