Former Hearts goalie Samuel Akurugu’s Asec move hits a snag

The expected move by former Hearts of Oak goalie Samuel Akurugu to Ivory Coast siude Asec Mimosas has fallen through with the player returning to Ghana.

The former Hearts goalie returned to Ghana after failing to land a deal with the Ivorian giants Asec and is expected to join a local side soon.

Asec new signing Ahmed Toure disclosed Akrugu has returned to Ghana after the former Hassacas shot stopper quietly returned home after attempts to secure a deal failed.

Akurugu was on trials with the club since last week but has returned to Ghana on Wednesday after the deal fell through.

Akurugu's display impressed Ahmed Toure and he wonders why the club declined to signing the Ghanaian goalkeeper.

"Since last week he (Akurugu) was here but to be honest with you I don't know what happened that they failed to sign him, because when he came his performance was very good at training but I don't know what happened that he left" , Ahmed Toure told FOX 97.9 FM.

Asked whether ASEC declined to the signing, Toure answered in affirmative.
