Former Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars striker Yahaya Mohammed has warned young Ghanaian footballers from trekking to pursue their playing careers in Tanzania insisting the league does not encourage development.

Yahaya believes that the Tanzanian league is much concentrated on fame and results instead of helping players to develop.

Speaking to Fox FM in Kumasi, Yahaya advised that young footballers with ambitious career targets must forget about making it in Tanzania.

“It is economically good to play in Tanzania, but as a young player aiming to play football to a higher stage, from ages between 19 to 25, per what I have seen and experienced here, I would not advise you to start from here with a Tanzanian club”, Yahaya advised.

Asked why he doesn’t want the young players to follow his steps to Tanzania, Yahaya clarified that players like himself, who are at the epilogue of their career are only left with money making tools since they have nothing more to prove.

“For me my age has advanced and sooner or later I might be out of the profession, so this moment every move is commercially driven because I will not give any scanty amount a chance to slip by. But as an upcoming professional player, you must put your career development first” he said.

Yahaya Mohammed had a short stint with Tanzanian giants Azam FC after excelling with Aduana Stars two seasons ago.
