French club Evian open talks over Rabiu permanent deal

Newly-promoted French top-flight side Evian Thonon Gaillard have opened talks to sign Rabiu Mohammed on permanent basis.

Ghana youth international, who was instrumental in their promotion to the top-flight, is loan from Italian side Udinese.

Officials of the French have travelled to Italy to begin talks with Udinese for the permanent deal for the enforcer.

Even though no price offer has yet been made, Mohammed could be  released by Udinese for US$3m

The 21-year-old struggled for playing time in Italy since moving from Liberty Professionals three years ago.

But since moving to France to play for Evian Thonon Gaillard, Mohammed has regained his confidence playing in most of the matches that helped the club to qualify.

He recently told GHANAsoccernet.com: “This is a big day for me in my career because it been difficult for me all these while. I will savour this day and look to the future.”

“I think my future rests with this club and I will love to stay and hone my talent here.”

Mohammed was a member of the Ghana Under-20 which won the 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
