Owu confident on WC appearance despite snub

Goalkeeper George Owu is still harbouring hopes of making his second successive appearance at the World cup in South Africa despite his omission from the 30-man provisional squad. The 27-year-old failed to make the cut after years of manning the number two position for the Black Stars.

Owu re-joined local side AshantiGold in the second half of the season to recapature his assertiveness following his departure from Egyptian side Al Masry.

But he is counting on a miracle to aid his quest to represent the country at the highest level of football in the world.

"It must sound strange, but I am still hopeful of making the world cup squad because it is football and anything can happen between now and the time the final list is announced," Owu said.

"God does his things in mysterious ways and I am not leaving no stone untuned in my training because where there seems to be no way, that is where God manifest himself."
