Germany facing injury worries

Ghana's Group opponents at the World Cup Germany are having some of their own injury problems ahead of the finals in June.

Die Mannschaft are beginning to experience something similar to that of the Socceroos with key players sustaining injuries whilst on club duty.

The most recent injury is the broken ribs suffered by number one goalkeeper Rene Adler during training with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

To add to Adler’s injury, his club teammate Simon Rolfes is trying to overcome a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since January and he does not hold high hopes of making Joachim Low’s squad.

“Most likely, the World Cup is out of my reach," the midfielder said.

"I have not given up hope and I am in contact with Joachim Low but I don't think I will be there, which is a pity."

Other worries for Low are that strikers Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski have netted less than a handful of goals between them in the league this season whilst midfielders Michael Ballack and Marcell Jansen have been worried by niggling injuries in recent times.
