Spain-based midfielder Derek Boateng says he is delighted to return at the Ghana national team just before the World Cup.

The Getafe playmaker was part of Ghana’s World Cup team in 2006 but has since slipped down the pecking order.

But Boateng has massively revived his career with Getafe which has led to two club Sevilla and Valencia angling for his signature.

Coach Milovan Rajeavc jas also monitored his performances in the La Liga which prompted the Serbian to hand Boateng a place in his 30-man squad at the tournament in South Africa.

“I am obviously elated to be getting back into the national team at the right time to help my country,” Boateng told Ghanasoccernet.

“I have made tremendous strides in Spain and now I have to let this show playing for my country.

“I am learning new things everyday and I want to join my colleagues to make Ghana proud at the World Cup.”

Boateng will join the team for their training tour of France before the full 23-man team is named for the tournament in South Africa.

Ghana will play Serbia, Australia and Germany in Group D.
