GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi consolidates Islamic faith by performing 'mini' Hajj for the 3rd time

Published on: 09 October 2017

Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi consolidated his Islamic faith by performing the mini Hajj, Umrah, for the third time.

Known as Umrah, it is the Islamic practice of visiting Makkah and performing pilgrimage at any time of the year, unlike the main Hajj which can only be performed in the last month on the Islamic calendar.

The Ghana FA capo' Islamic faith came to light in 2014 when he appeared before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry and asked to swear with the Qur'an instead of the Bible as many expected.

The bold revealing act of Kwesi Nyantakyi opened doors of doubt about his faith with many insisting he's a Christian but controversially opted to swear with the Qur'an instead of the Bible.

Nyantakyi, a CAF ExCo Member and now a FIFA Council Member after swearing with the Qur'an revealed in a video interview with GHANAsoccernet how he became a Muslim.

As if that was not enough to tell the story of Kwesi Nyantakyi's religious status, the Wa All Stars owner took a second wife, an Islamic practice which Christianity frowns upon and has finally consolidated his status by performing the mini Hajj for the third time.

Nyantakyi performed the act together with members of fhe Black Stars technical team - Ibrahim Tanko and Ishmail Hamidu, GFA Director of Communication Ibrahim Sannie Daara and the Muslim players in the team including Kassim Nuhu, Abass Mohammed and Lumor Agbenyenu.

This becomes the third Umrah of the GFA President and surely promises not to be the last.
