The Ghana Football Association is expected to launch an investigation into circumstances that led to the postponement of AshantiGold's league clash with New Edubiase on Wednesday.

The high-tension match was called off by the security personnel following crowd troubles at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium by the home team.

An official of New Edubiase United who was reported to have entered to have entered the stadium with a pistol and a knife, was made to leave the edifice.

The Premier League Board had confirmed the game will go on as planned although Edubiase United wanted to forfeit the points by boycotting the match for fear of their lives.

The corresponding fixture ended in violence as buses of AshantiGold were destroyed and fans beaten up.

Pockets of their followers promised to retaliate during the mid-week and had planned a hellish treatment for the side.

A meeting with the organizers of the league, the two parties were said to have reached a rapprochement.

But that did not seem to have softened the stance of the home fans who were bent on venting their spleen on the traveling supporters and players.
