Ghana captain John Mensah says the Black Stars will achieve a lot under their new Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic.

The former Partizan Belgrade boss was appointed the coach of the Black Stars last week to take the country to the 2012 and 2013 Africa Cup of Nation tournaments.

Stevanovic will retain the backroom staff including assistant boss Kwesi Appiah who helped to bring success to the Black Stars.

Mensah will work with Stevanovic as the captain of the team and the Sunderland defender says the Serbian will enjoy the support of the Black Stars players.

“Am 100% in support of Goran and I know and believe my colleagues are also in massive support of him” Mensah said on his official website. “Working with a new coach won’t be an easy task especially at the first stage but looking at his plans, I believe that if he(Goran) teams up with his assistant Kwasi Appiah and with the support of we the players Ghana can achieve a lot under the leadership of  Goran” Mensah added. Mensah, who made his debut for the Black Stars in 2001, says the camaraderie among the Ghana under previous coach Milovan Rajevac will be maintained under the new boss.

“I can assure Goran that the team spirit will still be there because we the players are determined to build on our success.”
