Daniel Opare capped an impressive debut season in the Belgian top flight by winning the Cup trophy after Standard Liege beat Westerlo 2-0 in the final on Saturday night.

The right-back celebrated his first silverware since joining the club last summer from Real Madrid.

Eliaquim Mangala opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a header from a corner and Westerlo's Adnan Mravac scored an own goal in the 61st minute to seal Standard's first cup title since 1993.

Earlier this week, Standard narrowly lost the league title in a decisive game against new champions Racing Genk.

Opare has been named in Ghana’s 24-man squad for next month’s 2012 Nations Cup qualifier against Congo at home and a friendly against South Korea.
