Ghana FA plan League referees slash

Published on: 20 July 2010

The number of referees for the new Ghana Premier League season will be cut down according to the Ghana Football Association.

Congress, the highest decision making body, is scheduled for August where the decision will be ratified as a measure to ensure efficient officiating.

"We will consider reducing drastically the number of referees in the league. This will ensure effectiveness in refereeing,” Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi told Ghanasoccernet.com

“If you look at officiating in major European leagues, there is fixed number of  referees. This makes refereeing better.”

The number of match officials was reduced before the start of last season.
