Ghanaian football fans are ecstatic over the news that Ghana will play England in a friendly match in March.

With the Black Stars in good shape, fans of the West African country are confident that they will be able to beat England, who introduced the game to Ghana

Since GHANAsoccernet.com broke the news on Sunday, the leading football news website on the country has been inundated with email requests for tickets for the match.

Social media like Facebook and Twitter posting have also seen similar queries for tickets for the game scheduled for Wembley in March.

The game has been fixed for 29 March as both sides have agreed to the game even though the deal will be signed next week.

“We expect to sign the contract next week to make it complete but we have an agreement to play England. We have agreed in principle to play.” Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi told GHANAsoccernet.com.

It will be the first meeting between the West African country and England at the senior level.

Ghana fans will be delighted that the much-anticipated clash will take place as several attempts by the West Africans to play England have ended in failure.

Fans are keen for the Black Stars to teach England a footballing lesson after they introduced the game to the country.

Ghana play Congo that weekend in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier before flying out for the much-anticipated match.

Meanwhile, the Ghana FA expects to name an opponent for next month’s friendly which is expected to be the first assignment for the yet-to-be named new Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic.
