Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson is eager to reunite with team-mate Michael Essien as the Chelsea star makes a return to international football.

Essien called time on his international football period after suffering from two serious knee injuries that nearly plagued his career.

He cited those setbacks and lack of fitness as the reasoning behind his decision.

The Chelsea ace has been recalled by Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic for next month's qualifier against Congo at home and a friendly at South Korea.

Kingson, who plays for Blackpool, says he cannot wait to play alongside the midfielder.

"I am excited at the prospect of playing with Essien again. He is an important player for the team and great to know the time has come for him to come back to the national team," Kingson is quoted as saying.

"We are like a family as we joke and tease each other on a number of issues and it will really be exciting getting together again for the national course."
