Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng marked his debut for Spanish La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in their 3-1 reverse against Real Murcia in a pre-season friendly game on Sunday. 

The 31-year-old joined Los Franjirrojos after leaving relegated English side Fulham after signing a one-year-contract with the Madrid-based club.

Rayo manager Paco Jémez handed the former Getafe man a slot in his midfield and he completed the entire duration of the game but he experienced defeat on his debut game for the club.

Boateng, who has had spells in Sweden, Israel, Greece, Ukraine, England, and Germany spent two seasons at Spanish side Getafe between 2009 and 2011.
