Ghana Striker Majeed Waris Finally plays for Lorient in French Ligue 2

Published on: 03 October 2017

Ghana striker Majeed Waris played his first game of the season for Lorient in their 3-2 defeat to Le Havre on Monday night in the French Ligue 2.

Waris, 26, had not played for the Oranges since the start of the season following their relegation from the Ligue 1.

The former Spartak Moscow striker came from the dugout in the 64th minute as a replacement for Gael Danic when his side was already down by 3-1.

The swift attacker could only help reduce the tally by inspiring a Lemoine strike to reduce the tally to 3-2.

Waris was linked to a number of clubs in England including West Ham and Swansea and was closer to landing a deal with the Swans but the deal fell through at the eleventh hour.

The striker returned to Lorient after failing to land a deal in the Premier League and had since not played for Lorient until last night’s game against Le Havre.

The Ghana forward scored 9 league goals last season for Lorient in the Ligue 1 and is expected to introduce his explosive form to aid their return to the top flight.
