Ghana's World Cup bound defender Samuel Inkoom will play in the Swiss Cup final on Sunday after recovering from injury.

The 20-year-old, who plays for Basel, has been out of action for the past week because of an ankle problem.

He has recovered well in time for Sunday's important clash with Luasanne as both clubs vie for their first titles of the season.

This means if he keeps his fitness, he will be available to play for the Black Stars at the World Cup in June.

Ghanasoccernet can exclusively reveal that Inkoom will be in Basel's starting line-up on Sunday when they take on Lausanne.

Inkoom is keen on playing in the game to help Basel win the title as it will be historic for him to win a trophy in his first season in Europe.

"I am fully fit now but it wasn't a very serious injury. I didn't want to take chances with my long term fitness situation," Inkoom told Ghanasoccernet.

"The decision I took was right because I am now fully fit for Sunday's crucial Swiss Cup final and I can't wait to help my team to win.

"It will be the major send off for me to go to the World Cup in good spirits if I am chosen to play for my country.

"My fitness is 100 per cent. I can help my club on Sunday and then turn my attention fully to my country's World Cup team."

Inkoom joined Basel from local side Asante Kotoko after impressing at the Africa Youth Championship in Rwanda last year.

He was a key part of the Ghana team that won the U20 World Cup as well as the Nations Cup team that finished second in Angola earlier this year.
