Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has lashed out at the president of Spanish second division Elche, insisting his complaints over his unpaid wages for several months led to his dismissal.

Elche president José Sepulchre claimed Wakaso was sacked on disciplinary grounds after failing to integrate with the rest of his team-mates at the club.

But the 21-year-old, who joined the rival Segunda division side Villarreal II, claims he was booted out of Elche because he had complained about his four months outstanding salary.

"I do not understand how the president can say I'm a bad person and I have problems in the locker room. It is not the truth,” Wakaso said

“Ask the players and the coach if you they have had a problem with me. My problem was with my pay and it was not regular.

"I could not go on any longer in that state. Things were not going well and I wanted to change clubs."

Despite is falling out with the his former club president, Wakaso says he has asked his new coach to exclude him from their clash with Elche out of his respect for fans of the club.
