Udinese will be deprived the services of Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu for at least two months after the midfielder underwent surgery on Wednesday to correct a knee problem, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Ghana midfielder picked up the problem at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations during their quarter-final clash against Tunisia.

Badu flew direct to Rome where seven tests were run on him before going under the knife at the Villa Stuart Hospital in the Italian capital.

"I was told I had torn some meniscus in my right knee and the only way to help solve the problem was through surgery.

"It is just unfortunate that anytime I peak, I'm pulled back by injury but this is football.

"I'm mentally strong and I think that will help me recover quickly. I will miss the Serie A with Udinese."

This a big blow for Udinese who were looking to profit from his rich vein of form as they hunt for a spot to play in Europe again next season.

Badu was one of Ghana key performers at the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

He scored his debut Nations Cup goal against Guinea in the Group stage.

Badu has played in two finals of the continent's flagship football event.
