Dede Ayew scores again in France

Ghana midfielder Andre 'Dede' Ayew scored again this week as his club Arles Avignon were held to a 1-1 draw by Guingamp at home on Friday night.

The Black Stars utility player cracked the struggling side open after Guingamp defenders had resisted fierce onslaught on their goal area.

The son of legend, Abedi Pele, opened the scoring in the 65th minute but Giresse shocked the Arles when he drew the visitors’ level four minutes later.

Ayew's impressive performance throughout the game won him the man-of-match award as he is now gunning for the best player award in the French Ligue 2.

Despite being held to the 1-1 home draw, Arles moved into third position because their closest rivals Metz lost 2-0 Clermont to put Ayew's side firmly in place for promotion with five matches remaining.

This comes after Ayew capped his virtuoso performance last week with two late goals in Arles Avignon's come-from-behind 2-1 victory at Le Havre.

The son of legend Abedi Pele scored twice in the last three minutes to ensure that his club are still in the hunt for a top flight place next season.

Friday's performance is the sixth back-to-back man-of-the-match performance by the player who is gunning for a place in the Black Stars squad at the World Cup.

The news will also delight Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac who is keen on his players being in top shape ahead of the World Cup in South Africa in June.
