GHANAsoccernet GHPL WK VIII BEST XI: William Opoku's hat trick and Hafiz Konkoni's brace steal headlines

William Opoku Mensah stole the show at the Anyinase Park with a wonderful second half hat trick to give Karela FC a 3-1 win over crawling Accra Hearts of Oak with Hafiz Konkoni registering a brace to give Bechem United a 2-1 win over ailing Wa All Stars as the Ghana Premier League entered the eighth week.

Coach Johnson Smith of Karela FC emerged the coach of the week for guiding his side to lash Hearts of Oak 3-1.

The system for the week is 4-4-2.

  1. George Owu (GK) – AshGold: Owu made some great saves to deny home side WAFA a win at Sogakope on Wednesday. He was called to duty just under four minutes by Richard Danso to pull a save and got busy subsequently. He made two great saves in the second half to record four wonderful saves in all.
  2. Tijani Joshua – AshGold: The AshGold skipper was one of the reasons the Miners picked a point from the game. He over-worked himself to ensure he shuts the door on Richard Danso. To many who watched the game, Joshua should have been the player of the match.
  3. Montari Kamahene – Dreams FC: He was very smart and aggressive on the flanks for the visitors. Despite looking smallish, Montari was a hard nut to crack for Liberty. He made good runs and excellent crosses.
  4. Musah Nuhu – WAFA: Nuhu was excellent throughout the 90 minutes for WAFA. He pulled the breaks on Shafiwu Mumuni and created WAFA’s opener with a galloping speed from defence which forced Osei Agyemang to commit a penalty.
  5. Abdul Ganiyu – Karela FC: Ganiyu rendered the attack of Hearts impotent with his aggressive play. He put a barrier at the back to stop the Phobians from scoring after Kordie found his opener as a midfielder.
  6. Hadji Sadiq – Bechem United: He was fantastic in the game against Wa All Stars. Despite Hafiz Konkoni scoring twice to give Bechem the win, Hadji emerged the man of the match with his scintillating play.
  7. Jamal Haruna – WAFA: From start to finish, Jamal was the brightest spot for WAFA. He was skillful and kept the AshGold defenders always on their toes. He was created several chances for the home side who failed to bury them.
  8. Leonard Owusu – Dreams FC: Leornard emerged the man of the match for the second time running in his second game of the season. His back-heel pass led to the only goal of the game by Zuberu Sharani. His passing accuracy in the game was apt and showed great leadership.
  9. William Opoku Mensah – Karela FC: If There is any player who made sure Hearts of Oak were humiliated, then it is William. He registered a hat trick and emerged the man of the match.
  10. Hafiz Konkoni – Bechem United: He registered a brace for the home side to get them a 2-1 win over Wa All Stars. His goals were amazing and many felt he deserved the man of the match award.
  11. Richmond Lamptey – Inter Allies: Lamptey emerged the man of the match after guiding his side to a lone goal victory over Eleven Wonders. He was instrumental in the game.
